Rev Iain MacAskill to move to Rosskeen Free Church

Yesterday, Rev Iain MacAskill, minister of South Uist and Benbecula, formerly accepted the Call to Rosskeen Free Church, which was approved by the Western Isles Presbytery.  This is sad news for the South Uist and Benbecula congregation.  Iain was appointed as the first minister of the congregation in 1999, and was a resident evangelist for two years prior to that.  He will be sorely missed by all associated with his own congregation, as well as the North Uist, Grimsay and Berneray congregation, which he has served more than once as interim moderator in the past.  Please pray for Mr MacAskill and his family as they prepare for their move to Rosskeen.

The Rev Kenny I Macleod has been appointed as Interim Moderator for the South Uist and Benbecula congregation.  After Iain's departure, Kenny will work with the elders and deacons to look after the congregation whilst they seek a new minister to take on the work.  In the meantime, the congregation continues to entrust themselves and their work to the Lord Jesus Christ, the Head of the Church.

South Uist and Benbecula Bible Study

Our new Bible Study series focuses on the Book of Ezra and is entitled Faith, Courage and Perseverance

The task ahead of the people of Israel as they returned from captivity in Babylon was a challenging one, but Ezra speaks of the faith of the courageous people who, under the leadership of Sheshbazzar, Zerubbabel, and Ezra, returned to their own land to rebuild the temple and the community of God's people there.  Through their perseverance they were delivered by God.
